Use Coffee Enema to Clean the Intestine

Coffee enema is a way to treat a disease by cleaning the intestine, which is to insert coffee extract into the rectum. This method has been done long ago and is considered to have a positive effect on the gastrointestinal tract. Coffee enemas are also said to be beneficial as medical treatments for TB patients and cancer patients. Caffeine in coffee extracts that are inserted into the rectum will pass through the smooth muscle in the small intestine and spread to the liver. It is believed to cleanse toxins and work to stimulate the liver. Some alternative treatments also use this method as a process of cleansing tumor residues and have an anticancer effect. Although this technique is considered effective, but unfortunately there is no medical research that confirms this. Basically, coffee enemas are defined as intestinal cleansing activities. During this time, colon cleansing is considered important because poisons in the digestive tract are considered to cause various diseases, such as asthma, allergies, and arthritis. Therefore, cleansing the intestines is intended to prevent the body from attacking these diseases. Even so, this procedure is also considered by some to be unnecessary, because the digestive tract is believed to clean itself.

Risk of Coffee Enema

Although it is believed to have many benefits, coffee enemas are not completely safe. Cleansing the intestines can cause mild side effects, such as bloating, cramps, nausea, and vomiting. Other heavier side effects can also occur, such as the risk of dehydration, holes in the anal wall and infection. In fact, there is a link between coffee enemas with colon cleansing that might cause death.

Doing Coffee Enemas at Home

Although you can do your own coffee enema at home, preparation is still needed so that this procedure can be done safely. The following are the preparations and steps for doing a coffee enema at home.
  • Choose and spend enough time because doing a coffee enema should not be rushed. For coffee enemas should be done after defecation.
  • Empty your bladder to avoid discomfort.
  • Prepare an enema bag. This container can be purchased at a pharmacy.
  • Prepare the enema fluid, you can make it yourself with a dose that can be asked by your doctor or buy enema fluid at the pharmacy.
  • Put a plastic sheet as a lying mat to anticipate if the liquid comes out before you get to the toilet.
  • Wash the enema bag with soap then fill it with enema liquid. Do not use enema bags interchangeably.
  • When filling an enema bag, make sure no air enters, including the hose. Mix coffee if the doctor suggests warm water in a bag. The air that enters the body can cause cramps.
  • Hang the enema bag in a place higher than the body so it can drain the enema fluid smoothly.
  • Prepare an enema tube. Mark the tube to make sure you do not insert the rectal (rectal) tube for more than four inches.
  • Lubricate the end of the tube to facilitate the insertion process.
  • Lie on the left side of the body with your legs bent and knees pressed to your chest. This position will launch fluid into the rectum so that more and more fluid enters. Put your left arm under your head as a head pad.
  • Insert the enema tube slowly through the rectum, about 3.5 inches deep. To make it easier to insert the tube, you can push like it will defecate when the tube is inserted. If the cylinder cannot enter, do not force it. Immediately consult a doctor if you cannot insert the enema tube.
  • Let the enema fluid enter the rectum. Avoid fluid flowing back into the enema bag. Adjust the breath as the fluid enters the rectum. If you experience cramps, close the valve valve to temporarily stop the flow. When it is comfortable, flow again.
  • When all the liquid has come in, keep it tilted to the left for 10 minutes. After that, take the supine position for 10 minutes and finish with the right side for 10 minutes. It aims to help coffee enemas move to the large intestine. Then go to the toilet to complete the coffee enema process.
In order to avoid the risks and side effects of coffee enemas, you should only do this if you have consulted a medical expert, especially if you are taking certain medications due to an illness. Also pay attention to using disposable tools, knowing for certain about the ingredients and quantities of coffee (or other herbal ingredients) that are used, and keep consuming fluids so they don't become dehydrated.
